About the role
Our client — a top-five Canadian fintech — is rebuilding their customer onboarding from a legacy AngularJS app to a modern React + TypeScript stack. You’ll be the senior voice in the room: setting front-end standards, mentoring two intermediate engineers, and shipping production code in week one.
What you’ll do
- Lead architecture decisions on a green-field React + Next.js application
- Build accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA), performant UI with TypeScript, Tanstack Query, and Tailwind
- Partner with design to translate Figma into a reusable component library
- Establish front-end testing standards (Vitest + Cypress) and CI quality gates
- Mentor two intermediate developers through pairing and code review
What you bring
- 7+ years building production web apps, with 4+ years in React / TypeScript
- Strong opinions, loosely held, on state management, accessibility, and testing
- Comfort working hybrid (2 days/week downtown Toronto)
- Experience in regulated industries (fin-tech, health, gov) is a plus
